Ellis-Fermor & Negus Supports Good Divorce Week 2022

We’re supporting Resolution’s Good Divorce Week 2022 (28 November – 2 December), an annual awareness campaign run by Resolution, a community of over 6,500 family professionals, which helps people find a better way to go through divorce.

This year, the focus of the campaign is to highlight the crisis in the family courts and raise awareness of the different ways families can resolve their disputes away from Court where it is safe and appropriate to do so.

Recent statistics show that divorces are on the rise again, with 113,000 divorces in 2021 – up nearly 10% on the previous year. The impact on wait times is stark and, on average, it now takes 52 weeks to conclude divorce proceedings leaving many families in limbo for over a year. This in turn has a knock-on effect on children’s schooling and family finances.

The benefits of early legal advice

Getting early advice is instrumental in helping to achieve long-lasting resolution after a divorce. Our team of Family Law Solicitors at Ellis-Fermor & Negus all follow Resolution’s Code of Practice, which promotes a constructive approach to divorce and considers the needs of the whole family. We aim to resolve any dispute through discussion and negotiation where possible.

During Good Divorce Week 2022, we want to demonstrate the real value of getting early legal advice to help our clients understand their options. If you’d like advice about a family matter, please get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to arrange an appointment with one of our family lawyers.
