Employment Law Update

On 29 July 2013 the Government introduce Employment Tribunal fees – £1180 for an unfair dismissal case. Good news or bad? Bad news for employees with this financial obstacle to justice. Good news for employers as employees are deterred from suing. But is it really good news? In future how will employee’ s protect themselves? Perhaps by a revival in Trade Union membership? Perhaps self-help measures? Will we see disgruntled ex-employees taking to social media to shout to the world about their treatment? Will the challenge to employers change from a financial risk to a reputational risk?
